Family and Friends
If an older relative or friend becomes unsafe on the road there are processes which can be put into action which may mean the person will have to retire from driving.
However, these processes can be lengthy and confusing and make life difficult for family members as well as the driver.
This is particularly common where dementia is involved as the person living with that condition eventually looses insight into what safe driving is all about and therefore dismisses family members' concerns.
This means that even if their licence is revoked they may still be tempted to drive and it is normally family members who are the only ones that can ensure they stay safe.
